Easily as artful as its surroundings, the food at Café Modern is work worth praise. Giving competition to the creations by Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol just a few rooms away are the offerings designed and plated by chef Dena Peterson. Among good examples is the sesame shrimp salad served with chilled and sliced yellowfin tuna, creamer potatoes, haricots verts, olives, petite tomatoes and hard boiled quail egg, all drizzled with a white balsamic-tarragon vinaigrette. Don’t miss desserts, especially the mousse trio. At brunch, the gingerbread pancakes make you wish every day were Sunday. Linger over coffee or another glass of wine, gazing at the reflecting pool and the museum’s breathtaking stone-steel-glass architecture.
