THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cafe Rumi Restaurant Review:
Lebanese-born owner Marwan Chebaro teamed up with partner Bassam Helwani from Iran to re-create the foods of their homeland. The Swirling and Twirling platter is a Mediterranean party on a plate, a splendid collage of roasted red pepper hummus, baba ghanouj, dolmathes, tabbouleh and well-cooked green beans flavored with cinnamon and tomatoes. Only the bold should try the Andalusian chicken salad, dry-rubbed and grilled chicken breasts splayed over lemon vinaigrette-dressed greens; the whole thing is drizzled with a robust garlic sauce. To quench thirsts, try the sharp Mediterranean lemonade flavored with saffron and either rose or orange blossom water. Café Rumi also serves lavosh-wrap sandwiches, lamb kebabs and house-made desserts. On pretty days, the double-wide garage doors open from the tiny courtyard onto the open kitchen.
