| Hidden between the trendy shops on Rue Sherbrooke West, Il Cortile offers an inviting break from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Large hanging flower arrangements, walls lined with wine bottles, sumptuous parlor furniture, and classical opera playing quietly in the background create an almost otherworldly atmosphere. The menu is a small but complete table d'hôte and the wine list is impressive with privately imported selections. Courteous and knowledgeable service matches the carefully prepared food served in generous portions. High quality ingredients are standard here, exemplified by the prosciutto, beautifully marbled and lushly soft to the palate and served with thinly shaved Parmesan. Another treasure is the angel hair pasta with delicately textured salmon and basil in a cream sauce. The tiramisu involves cream tasting as if it had been whipped just moments before its arrival at the table. |
