It's fast food in a manner of speaking, but --- given the fresh-factor --- it beats most of its ilk by a long shot.

Dining room at Caffe Baci, Chicago, ILPanini --- some with prosciutto, some with smoked mozzarella, some with eggplant, some with all of the above --- are made with homemade Italian bread, and that sets this café apart from the ordinary. So do little touches, such as pizza topped with fresh eggplant, Fontina, smoked mozzarella and a whirl of lemon olive oil. Daily pastas like mushroom tortellini in roasted garlic cream sauce, a good array of salads and oversize cookies are all served in a sleek, very modern, very Italian setting. Topnotch espresso is made in true Italian style.
