| Rosen Shingle Creek is set on 230 acres of lush landscape along its namesake creek, the headwater for the Florida Everglades. Its top restaurant offering is a slick Italian bistro warmed by live piano music and a convivial bar. Familiar but contemporary pastas, roasted meats and seafood preparations are sent out into the 160-seat dining room or to the long, inviting "presentation cooking" bar ideal for single diners. Nothing comes cheap, but the kitchen has a deft touch with robust and clean-flavored dishes such as seafood pescatore with lobster, clams, shrimp, mussels and scallops; or pappardelle with Prime New York strip steak and a mushroom-tomato ragù. Dishes such as the Tuscan veal chop (topped with a warm tomato olive vinaigrette) tip the prices into the over-$40 category, but with 445,000-square-feet of meeting space and a David Harman-designed championship golf course, the property is well-suited as an expense-account destination. |
