California Pizza Kitchen Restaurant Review: Creative pizza is CPK’s main draw, but the menu also includes such appetizers as sesame-ginger chicken dumplings with chili-spiked soy-and-ginger sauce. The original barbecued chicken pizza endures; a white cheese pizza has an optional addition of apple wood-smoked bacon. Thin crust pizzas come off rather like a cracker bread. Kids can arrange any toppings on their own small pizzas. Vegetarians will find much to like, and the quinoa/arugula salad should get special attention. Grilled vegetables come with diced avocado on crisp romaine (the vegetables are served warm, a curious contrast to the cold greens). Those looking for pasta may opt for Thai curry noodles. Desserts are a study in overkill, but perhaps the tiramisu is the ideal conclusion. A fairly perfunctory wine list offers some respectable quaffs, but nothing out of the ordinary. Other locations. |
