California Pizza Kitchen Restaurant Review: California Pizza Kitchen’s wide selection of dishes with international flavors defines the brand. Original barbecued chicken remains the most popular pizza, but the California club with salty Neuske’s bacon, roasted chicken and mozzarella baked and topped with a mix of crunchy romaine, arugula, creamy avocado and fresh-torn basil tossed with lemon-pepper mayo would make a nice change of pace. Vegetarians might like the wild mushroom with slivered scallions. Gluten-free options are available as well. Among salads, chicken chopped salad and a Thai Crunch salad lead the pack. Hankering for pasta? Go for the chicken tequila fettuccine, a Southwestern-style spinach pasta with roasted red and yellow peppers, roasted chicken and a jalapeño-tequila-lime cream sauce. Sweets include butter cake, a cheesecake encased in a pound cake-like exterior, served warm and finished with a scoop of Häagen-Dazs ice cream. In addition to wine, there are five beers on tap, as well as bottled beer and cocktails. Try the agave mojito or the agave margarita. Also located at The Summit, 238 Summit Blvd., 205-298-7931.
