| Suave single malts and tony tequilas are the nominal excuse for gathering at this neighborhood nexus: sure it’s a bar, but it’s also a coffeehouse, an art gallery and a place to relax with friends in a smoke-free environment filled with light and animated conversation. In the manner of most bars, the food doesn’t change much. Chicken tortilla soup has long been a staple, while appetizers include a spinach, artichoke and Brie dip and cheesy, house-made potato chips. The Kobe beef burger, solo or with cheese, is the menu’s standout offering, though a poblano shrimp pizza could be contemplated. Desserts include several crêpes, rum cajeta among them, on the solid side, while liquid assets run the gamut from ports and high-end scotches to Irish coffee to milkshakes. Kick back in a booth or on the outdoor deck---a posh backyard for the cell phone set. |
