| So many restaurants have come and gone on this stretch of the Berlin Turnpike, but Carmen Anthony Fishhouse looks like it's here to stay. Why? Because, as a local franchise, it shows a bit more flair for both food and service than the indifferent corporate company it keeps. The menu here is identical to that of its Avon sister, featuring classic chophouse and fishhouse signatures like shrimp cocktail, oysters Rockefeller and Prime beef. We could nosh all night on the generous pile of fried calamari dotted with hot peppers. Then again, seafood entrées like the distinctively meaty yellowfin tuna or the more modest, lighter-flavored Chilean sea bass are as noteworthy as the steaks. Desserts are on the dense side, but well worth exploring, particularly the white chocolate creations---both the cheesecake and the bread pudding stand out. |
