Casa Nonna Restaurant Review:

This spacious, 150-seat restaurant is tucked away on W. 38th Street, in a part of town few people wander. But step inside and you’ll be glad you made the trek. The handsome interior, complete with a pizza bar (where diners can watch their pie being baked in the flaming oven) and an entire wall bedecked with framed photos and drawings (it’s not called “Grandma’s House” for nothing), sets a cozy vibe for a meal of Roman and Tuscan dishes. Light duck-laden gnocchi fairly evaporate upon hitting the palate. Slow-braised short rib, accompanied by carrots and turnips, is a hearty delight, matched only by the huge pork chop paired with date chutney. Finish off the meal with an order of bomboloni, sugared donuts drenched in limoncello. Or perhaps just order another glass of wine from the all-Italian wine list.
