It’s Sunday morning, and it looks as though everyone in Washington has turned up for brunch at Cashion’s. It’s usually a hip and friendly crowd sharing boisterous laughter, although solo patrons also seem to feel at ease as they enjoy their morning paper and coffee. The small dining room and bar fill up fast except in warm weather, when large French doors are thrown open to the fenced-in front patio. Brunch items include cornmeal waffles and pork hash and even a bison burger. At dinner, the menu offers equally trendy dishes: from fried squash blossoms to organic chicken and crispy pig's head with mashed potatoes. The menu changes according to the season, so expect new, fresh takes on favorites.
