Castaway Cafe Restaurant Review: If you have trouble finding this restaurant, just walk towards the beach. Tucked away in a small poolside shack along the shoreline, with amazing views of Lana’i and Moloka’i, the eatery is a good place to have a leisurely meal. Start off your morning with a meaty Kamehameha omelet or the Kula cinnamon raisin french toast. The Maui burger, topped with ham, pineapple and Swiss cheese, is a standout for lunch fare, and you can’t go wrong with the variety of entrée salads. For dinner, don’t miss out on the juicy coconut shrimp served with an unusual sweet-and-spicy peanut sauce. For entrées, the fresh catch is a favorite, with your choice of three preparations: blackened and served with Maui onion strings; grilled with lemon-caper butter sauce; or sesame-crusted with pineapple shoyu glaze. The nightly specials always come with wine pairing recommendations, and you’re also sure to find something to your liking from the extensive wine list. For an unforgettable experience, order a bottle of wine, a few appetizers, and watch the striking sunset.
