Catal Restaurant & Uva Bar Restaurant Review: It’s almost hard to believe you’re in the frenzy of the Disneyland Resort experience when you sit in this restaurant’s charming second-floor main dining room. Managed by Joachim Splichal’s Patina Restaurant Group, Catal serves up healthy breakfasts and dinner items inspired by Spain and the Mediterranean, as prepared by chef Steven Mary. The compact breakfast menu covers most tastes and time constraints through quick bites like toast and coffee or something more elegant, such as buttermilk pancakes with marinated berries or smoked salmon hash. At dinner, start with some tapas, perhaps a selection of marinated olives, a plate of Spanish cheese and charcuterie, or the more adventurous Spanish octopus with white beans, fennel and pickled peppers. Entrées are hearty renditions of Spanish and Mediterranean favorites --- think roasted chicken and lobster paella, along with grilled steaks and chops. Because this is Downtown Disney, there’s a special kids’ menu available, and servers are super friendly. Uva Bar, located downstairs, is more of a scene than a culinary destination, and offers a tapas menu with Spanish-influenced soups, salads, sandwiches and seafood.
