Dining room at Catch 35, Chicago, ILThe range of seafood choices is so deep, you may feel as though you should pull up a deck chair to aid further study. Some preparations are given an Asian spin (mussels steamed in lemon grass broth); we find these to be the most successful. However, tried and true, fluffy-fine crab cakes with corn relish and rémoulade are light on filler. Sea scallops are always cooked right (as in not to death) and they’re prepared with mustard-soy glaze, garlic-chive aïoli and Parmesan risotto. You'll find a few token non-seafood dishes (chicken, steak) in case you aren’t in a seafood mindset. Desserts to focus on are the Key lime pie and the deep-dish apple pie. The atmosphere is understated yet sophisticated, with the kind of subtle lighting that makes it date-appropriate. Also located at 35 S. Washington, Naperville, 630-717-3500.
