The Catch has reopened in a different space, now located right next to The Grove of Anaheim in the Avalon Bay Building. The menu is a good combination of juicy steaks, succulent seafoods and modern American comfort fare with some Asian accents. Start with a glass of wine or a martini, and order up the spicy teriyaki dragon rolls, the fall-off-the-bone short ribs or a creamy lobster bisque. As for mains, we enjoy the Chilean sea bass, which comes on a bed of fluffy basmati rice with crispy shrimp, ginger carrot purée, spicy tomatoes and lemon butter sauce. Steaks, like the 32-ounce tomahawk chop, are huge, flavorful and even better with sides like creamed corn, garlic and sherry mushrooms and Maine lobster potatoes. Desserts are topnotch and can be shared with the table. We recommend the “hot chocolate” turtle ice cream sundae, which is flambéed tableside with rum and includes salted walnuts, caramel and graham crackers. Locals like to hang out in the baseball plate-shaped bar at the extended and affordable happy hour, which lasts from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. on weekdays.
