THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Chandler's Restaurant Review: This is the kind of restaurant you want it to be: polished wood, a whole row of windows bringing in light and distractions, and a long bar for hanging around. The menu also meets, and exceeds, expectations. Chandler's is one of the few dining spots in the Tampa Bay area that will serve the unusual entrées of buffalo, ostrich or venison. But don't skip past the appetizers, which can include steamed artichokes, calamari and a specialty, Ybor Gumbo (packed with Spanish sausage, pork, shrimp and chicken). There are six pizza entrées (including soppresata salami), burgers (yes, on the dinner menu) and then a surprise or two in the pasta, seafood, veal and sirloin choices. Two that we like are the Pernod-seared sea scallops, served with Mediterranean couscous, yellow tomatoes and calamata olives, and the sesame-seared triggerfish, served with wasabi mashed potatoes, zucchini slaw and a pomegranate, ginger and carrot sauce.
