| Window-side or outdoor deck tables overlooking million-dollar yachts and sailboats and a distant view of the ocean offer an appetizing vista at this branch of an upscale national chain, a Coconut Grove old-timer. Flavorful prime rib, surf ‘n’ turf (Australian lobster tail and filet mignon, the latter not always precisely cooked to order), and over-thickened but tasty New England clam chowder, all accompanied by DIY salads from a totally time-trippy 1960s-style salad bar, are traditionalists' mainstays. For the somewhat modern-at-heart, tropical-toned Asian-esque dishes like lobster spring rolls with appealingly tangy mustard dip, or crispy calamari with a zippy Thai chili dip move the menu into the early 1990s. And the lavish hot chocolate lava cake bridges all generation gaps. |
