| The first two floors of Chau Chow City showcase floppingly fresh seafood, from abalone and conch to sea bass; the third floor serves that edible stream-of-consciousness treat known as dim-sum---which keeps coming and coming, from the basic (shrimp dumplings) to the exotic (duck's feet; snails swimming in garlicky broth). Think of Chau Chow City as a superstore for the chow mein set. We say head for the seafood and mainly the house specials. Scallops are a thing of beauty when served in their shell and napped with black bean sauce. Honey-glazed walnut shrimp prove addictively candy-sweet. Braised squab with pineapple and honey is a worthy diversion from the swimmers---and speaking of diversions, get a load of the crowds in the wee hours, swarming in after the clubs close. |
