Proving that good things come in small packages, Chavela Comida y Sangria is a casual spot sandwiched between a liquor store and its bigger, older sister Los Balcones. (They even share a kitchen.) Guests can grab a seat at the handful of tables or at the counter bar to enjoy one of the namesake chavelas --- Peruvian-style sangrias. But the real draw here is the vibrant Latin-inspired cuisine that just so happens to be entirely plant-based and almost completely gluten-free. Indulge in inventive dishes such as spicy tomato and avocado ceviche (it's cold but heats up the tongue), chipotle mac-n-cheese, barbacoa mushroom tacos and cabbage-wrapped enchiladas. For dessert, don't miss the chili chocolate ganache made with avocado.
