The menu is predictable and consistent, based on an archetypal French brasserie with all the staples from oysters to salad Niçoise to steak and frites. Steaks come in a whole range of cuts and prices and are cooked just as you want them. Frites are thin and tasty. You can have other French dishes---lamb brochettes, fish soup and so on, but steak frites are the raison d'être. All the restaurants in the group are designed in the Parisian 1930’s mould, but the Covent Garden branch wins with its long bar---inevitably heaving in the evenings---and its outdoor terrace looking out at the Royal Opera House and the piazza. There's a 2-course set menu at £16.95 and three courses at £20.95 served all day plus a cover charge for bread and small extras. Branches throughout London.
