 The exterior entrance to Chi Dynasty is flanked by two onion turrets, architectural elements from the Russian resto/lounge Romanov that shares the same Studio City complex. Inside, the sleek black-and-gold dining room features design touches of red---from the plates to lotus-shaped tealight holders to a textured wall of ripples---a tribute to China's traditional color of luck. The open kitchen turns out many of the standard Chinese dishes one would expect, but the flavors are enhanced through fresh ingredients. Start with the Chinese chicken salad, a house specialty that's tossed tableside and awakens the palate with tangy notes of ginger. Main courses are served family-style, with large portions to encourage sharing (or bringing home leftovers). The Mongolian beef is especially tender, while the Aromatic Shrimp with garlic, ginger and scallions delivers a spicy kick along with sweetness and crunch. A selection of soju cocktails is offered in addition to beer and wine.
