| Given the option, cocktails are the safer bet at this Murray Hill bar and restaurant. Chef Omaur Camara’s kitchen has high aspirations, but fails to follow through on them. Choice splits the difference between the vibe of a sports bar and that of a lounge; flat-screens hang above the bar area, but you’ll find plenty of exposed brick and mirrors elsewhere. The menu abruptly veers from stabs at dishes like short ribs listed as a “chef’s specialty” (though the broccoli and potato that accompanies them are clearly not) to more pleasing bar grub. Options such as boneless Buffalo chicken wings and crab cakes, lightly fried and topped with a corn salsa, are nothing out of the ordinary, but they hit the spot after a few drinks. Ditch the overpriced, leaden entrées and focus on the snackier items, improved by selections from a lengthy and well-priced wine list. |
