Evidently a Mom and Pop place, this tiny Vietnamese eatery is hopping at lunchtime and also does a brisk takeout business for midday foodies. Its menu is short and sweet and many of the dishes bear both Chinese and European influences. Better than usual is the kitchen’s fresh spring roll stuffed with roast pork, halved shrimp, and softened rice noodles. The classic Vietnamese salad is both crunchy and refreshing, but the cook may really shine with the Hanoi-style soup (pho) with rice noodles and beef in a hot and spicy broth. Eating some dishes, such as the shrimp on sugar cane, may need guidance from the staff: Don’t hesitate to ask.
