 Ciopinot Seafood Grille & Oyster Bar Restaurant Review: Housed within a historic downtown building and with an ambience accented by exposed brick, Ciopinot Seafood Grille & Oyster Bar brings a sense of big city dining to San Luis Obispo. As the restaurant’s name implies, the menu celebrates cioppino and Pinots. Classic Italian-American seafood stew is served “no work” style with all the shelling and cracking done for you, and you can also order up a fish-free bowl of just the hearty tomato broth---a treat in itself. Seasonal crab dishes are good as well, either fresh local rock crab claws served with drawn butter or sweet Dungeness. We also recommend the Greek calamari and scallops, while turf lovers can tuck into a bacon-wrapped filet mignon. For dessert, don’t miss the fresh fruit cobblers. The wine list is Pinot-centric, but other varietals are well represented. Wines-by-the-glass and half-bottle options are available, and the mixologists are always coming up with inventive cocktails, like a jalapeño martini. |
