Citrone Restaurant Review

: The menu at this attractive bistro, supplemented with about six market-driven daily specials, is straightforward, reflecting a philosophy of turning out dishes that skillfully emphasize freshness and flavor without letting busy preparations distract from the primary ingredients. Beginnings include Dungeness crab cakes with papaya-mango salsa, steamed mussels in a white wine and garlic sauce, and the restaurant's namesake salad made with orange, grapefruit, avocado and currants in a honey-citrus vinaigrette. There are a handful of pastas, as well as entrées such as a bone-in veal chop with sage-mushroom sauce; salmon in a lemon, butter and white wine sauce; and a simply grilled Kansas City steak. Desserts include tiramisu, chocolate mousse cake and New York-style cheesecake. The quality wine list --- visually reinforced by framed enlargements of wine labels lining the restaurant's worn brick walls --- is a nearly all-California affair, with an impressive 500 selections.
