| The original City Barbeque is located in a former donut shop where barbecue fans wolf down copious servings of fine pulled pork, beef brisket, chicken and, of course, ribs, all with sides varying from green beans with bacon to gumbo with rice. You're well advised to taste the meat before adding any of the barbecue sauces or other condiments: the deep, yet not-too-aggressive smoking is combined with the right spicing. The chicken and beef brisket are especially notable as are the hand-dipped hush puppies. Note that there may be a minimum order for eating in, and that you may need to carry out your order if you don't feel like waiting for a seat. Consider dropping by on a Wednesday when City Barbeque offers a lunch plate special (a quarter-pound sandwich and two sides, starting at under $7). |
