Chef Jonathan Clarke's elegant dining room has a Victorian-Edwardian décor that’s velvety and formal, but this is definitely a relaxed neighborhood establishment (there’s a “bar grub” menu and N’Orkage Mondays). The kitchen's creations---vaguely Continental with Northwestern touches---are often intriguing and executed with considerable flair. Some restaurants flop at seafood risotto, but Clarke's version, made rich with shrimp, lobster and tomato coulis, is buttery and unctuous. Veal scaloppine in a wild mushroom sauce is alone worth the drive. The wine list has plenty to choose from (especially among regional selections) and there's a fun cocktail selection as well. Be sure to save room for one of the imaginative desserts, such as chocolate banana bread pudding.
