Clay's Smokehouse Grill Restaurant Review: Vegetables and salads are just as distinguished as the meats at this welcoming, family-friendly establishment. Chicken, pork, beef and salmon are barbecued over a smoky blend of hickory, mesquite and alder woods. Alternatively, try the seared, smoked salmon or a salad. The smoked turkey salad with white cheddar shavings and pecans, or smoked pork loin slices over greens dotted with blue cheese, are winners. The potatoes with garlic sauce are a meal unto themselves. There are also several nice options for vegetarians, including a corn and barley salad topped with a vibrant smoked tomato salsa. Wash everything down with a tall glass of iced tea, or choose from the dozen or so artisanal beers. For dessert, grab a slice of the homemade peanut butter or pecan pie. The interior is pure funky Texan and a few picnic tables dot the sidewalk, making it a welcoming spot for families as children receive coloring supplies and toys plus their own menu. |
