![]() Clinton Street Baking Co. & Restaurant Restaurant Review: Once known for its savory brunch (including its now-famous blueberry pancakes), this Lower East Side eatery has blossomed into a full-scale morning-to-night bastion of taste bud-tantalizing goodness. It's worth the wait for the fluffy pancakes, but the buttermilk biscuit with scrambled eggs, melted cheddar and house-made tomato jam comes in a close second. Rosemary chicken with carrot-parsnip purée and lentil soup seem designed to comfort the soul on a winter's day, while the fish tacos and Maryland crab cakes are good any time of the year (and, yes, those blueberry pancakes are available all day). But the best bargain might be the off-the-menu special: a Black Angus cheeseburger that comes with homemade potato chips and a Brooklyn Lager for $15. Classic cocktails, wine and beer are served. A Bellini with seasonal fruit changes according to what's fresh. For dessert, there's a blondie sundae with salted caramel sauce and butterscotch chips. |
