Club Car Restaurant Lounge Restaurant Review: A remnant of a bygone era when it housed throngs of passengers coming in and out of town, this red brick railway station has a new purpose and identity. Many interior elements of the restored 1888 building have been preserved: intricate wood moldings, black leather banquettes, dark wood tables and booths, the tin ceiling, and glittering crystal chandeliers are all indicative of both the station's past and revitalized present. The New American cuisine follows a similar path, reinventing what is traditional with the addition of modern, eclectic touches. Cashew-encrusted calamari has all the appeal of the standard version with a welcome nuttiness and crunch. Baked stuffed littleneck clams are buttery and savory but still delicate. Entrées such as roasted loin pork chop Rossini with foie gras in a truffle Madeira sauce, and the Club Car burger (add foie gras if you desire) demonstrate the kitchen’s creativity. The wine list offers a comprehensive compendium of old-world and new-world selections to complement the menu. For dessert, share the balsamic strawberries zabaglione with pound cake biscuit, or carrot cake bread pudding enhanced by Frangelico crème anglaise.
