Club Lago Restaurant Review: Club Lago is an institution (it’s been around since 1952) that has been parked forever in a no-time zone. An Old Wave place that suddenly found itself surrounded by New Wave eateries, it didn't cave in --- it just got more popular. We like to sit at the bar and watch the bartender pour from the gallon jugs of wine. The food fits the place. Nothing fancy, no-frills, just good, inexpensive eating: minestrone soup, spaghetti and meatballs, baked clams, calamari, chicken tetrazzini, eggplant Parmigiana --- the basics. Sandwich-centric lunch specials are a particularly good deal, especially given the restaurant’s penchant for big portions, so load up on a salami panino while the getting is good.
