Comfort Restaurant Review

: Hip and upscale yet down-home, Comfort captures today’s casually chic, succor-seeking cosmopolitan zeitgeist. Its clean, near-Shaker décor lets quality ingredients and well-prepared dishes stand out. Selections have included fried catfish, meatloaf and grilled pork chops, sided with mac ‘n’ cheese, scalloped potatoes and cheddar grits (a series of prices next to each entrée on the daily-changing menu refers to how many sides you choose with it). The “supersecret” surf ‘n’ turf comprises a slice of the aforementioned meatloaf and a crunchy soft crab in-season. Desserts, too, pinpoint the nexus between haute and heart as in banana crème brûlée pudding. Two pages of whiskeys, Irish, Scottish but mainly made-in-the-USA, are all the comfort some might need. Creators Jason Alley (also of Pasture) and Chris Chandler shunned more established, trendy neighborhoods and banked on pre-renaissance Jackson Ward, which suits their concept…comfortably.
