Coquette Brasserie Restaurant Review: Coquette’s bustling tile-floored dining room transports you far away from the Raleigh mall scene outside. Coquette looks, sounds and smells like a typical lively Rive Gauche brasserie. The traditional French menu features such classic dishes as quiche Lorraine, onion soup, beef bourguignon, croque monsieur, and coq au vin --- all prepared by chef Beth Littlejohn. Pastry chef Beverly Fleming contrives classic home-style French desserts including such old favorites as clafoutis with specific flavor that changes with the seasons, French apple cake and profiteroles. The wine list is in sync with the menu, offering labels from every grape-growing region in France. Ever wanted to explore the real world of Beaujolais? Here's a list with depth in the subject. Even Chinon and Bourgueil from the Loire Valley are well represented. Several selections are available, bistro-style, in economical half-liter carafes.
