Corky's Bar-B-Q Restaurant Review

: New Orleans is not a big barbecue town, but here and there are reasonably priced restaurants that do it right. Corky’s is one of them. A soundtrack of Elvis Presley tunes fills the carpeted dining room of this casual suburban restaurant, giving first-time guests a clue to the kitchen's Memphis-style barbecue loyalties. More concrete evidence is found on the menu of wet and dry ribs, as well as super-lean pork, beef brisket, barbecue shrimp, chicken and drumettes, all brought to the table by servers decked out in white shirts and bow ties. The dry-cooked pork ribs, drenched in sauce, are one of the best bets. Beef brisket is juicy and lean. Side orders are the traditional beans and coleslaw, as well as an onion-ring loaf and the restaurant's own bread and desserts. Apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream --- just say yes. Beer and a few wines are the offered quaffs.

I have never been served a barbecue sandwich with lettuce, carrots, and onions as condiments. The meat was good but the "toppings" ruined it for me!
