Crabby Jack's Restaurant Review: No table service, a nondescript atmosphere, and a bit of a drive from downtown: these observations all describe Crabby Jack’s, but the food is so good that none of that matters. Crabby Jack’s may not look like much from the outside, but with its counter-service format and menu of traditional local dishes and creative lunchtime concoctions, a true New Orleans food experience awaits within. In addition to the classic po' boy fillings, Crabby Jack's offers tender breaded rabbit and roasted duck soaked in gravy. There are red beans and rice, muffalettas, fried chicken and salads as healthy or as decadent as you care to make them, while fish tacos composed of hard-shell tortillas, salmon, salsa and cheddar are better than even nature intended. If you can manage it, save room for one of the oversize, house-made brownies for dessert. Also a fresh seafood market, Crabby Jack’s offers boiled shrimp, crabs and crawfish in season. No alcohol is served.
