The Crow's Nest Restaurant Review: Sitting right at the entrance to Santa Cruz Harbor, The Crow's Nest boasts views of the ocean, lighthouse and nearby docked boats. Nice weather draws crowds to this two-story establishment, which features a casual bar, lounge and multiple outdoor dining opportunities upstairs, and a more formal dining room plus patio on the ground level. If dining downstairs, choose from starters like fried calamari or fill up your plate at the salad bar, which also includes a bowl of chowder or soup of the day. Seafood is a focus, with main dishes like sea scallops seared with a rosemary-cumin crust and citrus glaze, served with sautéed spinach and rice. Among the vegetarian options are butternut squash ravioli sautéed with brandy cream, spinach and tomato. Housemade desserts include cheesecake and a chocolate mousse pie with Oreo cookie crust. Santa Cruz wineries can be found on the California-focused wine list, and there are also a dozen beers on draft plus beachy drinks such as Mai Tais. Various live bands perform upstairs Wednesday through Saturday evenings, while comics take to the stage on Sundays.
