Da Vinci is San Antonio's first, full-bore homage to the art of gelato, and we’re besotted with flavors such as hazelnut, pistachio and zabajone. Fortunately, free tastes will help the undecided choose between 45 different sapori of gelati, sorbets and fat- and sugar-free frozen treats. A balanced meal can be approximated by also selecting from a list of panini, though they can lack gusto despite ingredients such as bresaola. Tossing all caution to the vento, crêpes can be created with fresh fruits, the addictive Nutella spread and a variety of topping sauces (pastries, however, tend to look better than they taste)---after which a bracing espresso will allow time to contemplate the often-interesting (and frequently changing) artwork on the walls.
