The traditional southern Indian fare contrasts with the decidedly more modern décor that blends classic Indian-style panel work and accents with warm ochre, mauve and sea-green walls. Colorful geometric hanging lamps softly illuminate the dining area, creating a welcome environment in which to enjoy the extensive menu of grilled meats, seafood, rice and vegetarian dishes. Appetizers like the adraki dingri---mushroom caps stir-fried with ginger, onions, peppers, tomatoes and spices---is an appealing prelude to entrées such as the tender, sweet-chili salmon, cooked in a clay oven. Vegetarians need not sacrifice principle for variety: the sabji saag malai is sautéed cauliflower and potatoes cooked with ginger, garlic and spices in a spinach-based sauce, a dish derived from a traditional Delhi recipe; and the vegetable jalfrezi combines garden fresh vegetables, simmered in onions and a sweet-and-spicy tomato sauce.
