Dali Restaurant & Tapas Bar Restaurant Review: The wild and sexy spirit of Barcelona permeates this party of a Spanish tapas bar on the Somerville-Cambridge border. Ristras and jewelry hang from the ceiling. Ornately tiled tables are tucked into every little corner of the three den-like dining rooms. Sangría, sherry and Rioja all flow freely. The waitstaff is as much a part of the excitement as the food and diners themselves, their rolled r’s as seductive as the ever-present scent of garlic. Tapas number in the dozens and sure things include the garlic shrimp, sautéed meaty mushrooms, green-lipped mussels with avocado, and baked goat cheese; seasonal specials like lamb-apricot soup keep the menu fresh. (Entrées are serviceable but beside the point.) There are a few misses (gummy ravioles de mariscos, leaden cod croquettes). But it's hard to quibble after a few glasses of sangría. |
