 Patrons frequent Damian's to harvest the feast of authentic Italian cuisine and wines in an ambience at once old-world and refreshingly new. Try the shrimp Damian, sautéed with garlic in a white wine-butter sauce; and the tableside preparation of Caesar salad. Another treasure from the sea is salmon paillard topped with pesto-mushroom trifolati. Hearty appetites go for such main courses as costolette alla valdostana, a veal chop stuffed with prosciutto and Fontina in a mushroom-Marsala sauce. Whether light or robust, all the meals start well with the verde Gorgonzola, a salad punched up with a blue cheese-and-walnut dressing; or funghi al Montalbano, a grilled portobello mushroom topped with fresh crab meat and a white wine-butter sauce. The extensive wine list focuses mostly on Italian vintages, and includes some Super Tuscans.
