Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse Restaurant Review: In its upscale shopping mall location, Davio’s offers relief from rigorous retail romps, but that also makes it a good choice for a business meal or before-or-after movie dining. One might partake of just the appetizers, such as mussels in a lemon grass broth or warm burrata with American prosciutto. Signature openers include the marchi, or tiny spring rolls, filled with savory ingredients. As this is an Italian steakhouse, pasta dishes are prominent and may be ordered in appetizer portions, but that amount might suffice for a small main dish as well. The restaurant serves hormone-free Brandt beef. While steaks appeal, the super tender short rib turns our head. The sole lapse on one visit was the scallops, which tasted fishy. Desserts vary, but if the vanilla bean panna cotta surmounted with simple fruits is offered, give it consideration. While the place is a bit formal for some children, the kids’ menu is lengthy and composed of worthwhile choices. Gluten-free options are available. The wine list is devoted to Italian labels, but represents other parts of the wine-growing world, too. Service is friendly and professional.
