Korean tacos have long been the rage elsewhere. Now, in Chicago, they’re being scarfed down like nobody’s business. Del Seoul --- which comes from a brother and sister team who worked at Senoya in Niles --- splits space on the video screen menu between the aforementioned, along with banh mi, bibimbap and dumplings, all served in a contemporary and casual space. Smoky, lightly spicy barbecue pork tacos --- infused with gochujang flavors --- come topped with cilantro and onions, garlicky salsa and slaw for a crunchy, savory, salty meal, while a lighter bulgogi-esque sandwich gets a burst of brightness from pickled daikon and other traditional (jalapeño, cilantro) and less traditional (red pepper aïoli) condiments. Is it earth-shattering? No. But it’s also not bad.
