Delphine Restaurant Review: Delphine at the W Hollywood Hotel takes its inspiration from the casual eateries found along the French Riviera, but puts an American spin on the brasserie concept. After entering from Hollywood Boulevard or through the hip lobby, guests will encounter an oyster bar and long, bustling dining room with blue-and-white tiled floors and windows that look out on the courtyard near the Hollywood and Vine Metro station. The outdoor bar there, Station Hollywood, offers original cocktails, appetizers, and a giant retractable screen for film premieres. Executive chef Sascha Lyon is an alum of Gallic institutions Balthazar and Pastis in New York. Start with a roasted candy cane beet salad with blue cheese and a Banyuls vinaigrette, ahi poke, or the popular organic kale salad with jalapeño and creamy citrus dressing. Entrée options range from seared Maine diver scallops with black truffle vinaigrette to braised short ribs, steaks or even a cheeseburger. The wine list is all-purpose but not very comprehensive, as a greater emphasis has been placed on the cocktail program. Finish with crème brûlée or chocolate-raspberry cake before hitting the clubs or safely heading home on the Metro.
