| Halfway to trendy Tremont Street from bustling Back Bay, the Delux Café is the ultimate hip hideaway. Bike couriers, fashionistas, brokers, artists---no group goes unrepresented. The small quasi-dive---decorated with old album covers and other vintage kitsch---dishes up a menu that's eclectic, not eccentric: quesadillas and gourmet sandwiches, a little Mediterranean here and a little Middle Eastern there, with the occasional potpie or strudel thrown in for good measure. Properly poured brews and tabs that demand delighted double-takes (can this really be the pricey South End?) round out the cool 'n' comfy experience. To top it off, take a nostalgia trip via the bathroom wallpaper---you’ll see what we mean. |
