Delux Restaurant Review: Cramped, crowded and often noisy, Delux is the haute spot for burgers and beer --- Niman Ranch beef burgers, that is, and trendy suds from boutique breweries in the U.S. and Belgium. This is pub fare with flair, offered in a clean, contemporary setting that feels more like L.A. or New York than Phoenix. More long than wide, the room sports a bar along one side, a row of banquettes along the other and a granite-topped community table smack down the middle. Virtually everybody shows up here, from businessmen to couples. Don't miss the roasted beet salad with glazed pecans and Maytag blue cheese, or the Delux burger infused with a mix of Maytag and Gruyère cheeses then topped with apple wood-smoked bacon, caramelized onions and arugula. For dessert, we suggest a chocolate malt or fudge lava cake. In a fun twist, diners can also get their fill at the sushi bar, serving until 2 a.m. and with special “happy hour” pricing.
