| After an interminable time with its facade behind scaffolding, Devon Seafood Grill is once again an unencumbered fixture on Rittenhouse Square. Executive chef Jeremy Sherman puts out boatloads of fresh seafood in surroundings that are mindful of old school seafood houses with dark wood accents, vaulted tiled ceilings and fish carvings on the walls. There's the requisite lobster tank and a buzz at the busy front bar, which serves up terrific happy hour deals. The top-drawer service and worthy wine list distracts from the occasional fumble from the kitchen. The crab cakes, seared Georges Bank scallops with wild mushroom risotto and San Francisco-style cioppino are well prepared, and you won't be able to stop eating the sweet biscuits that are a house specialty. Tasting menus with wine pairings, vegetarian and gluten-free options are thoughtful touches. |
