Italian cuisine at The Godfrey Hotel Chicago.
THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Dolce Italian Restaurant Review:
This see-and-be-seen spot for well-dressed, restaurant-flocking crowds at The Godfrey Hotel Chicago changes up the menu slightly from the Miami original. But some key staples remain; namely, the caprese salad with warm, thick slices of mozzarella with heirloom tomatoes, aged balsamic vinegar and basil, and the whole-roasted branzino with lemon, thyme and a cherry tomato-olive-caper sauce. Handmade pastas are pretty good and evolve from time to time, but the tender lobster ravioli stands out. Pizzas, with their blistered, crispy crusts, come with a variety of toppings, from one with speck, spicy salami and truffle oil to another sporting burrata, cherry tomatoes and arugula. Cocktails fare slightly better than the desserts, with a smoked old fashioned made with angostura and mole bitters, and grappa sour with Campari. But the tiramisu, with more of the coffee-flavored cream than the cookie part, is still a nice finish.
