Dominic's is upscale not only in terms of décor (flattering lighting from the chandeliers, brocaded walls, gilt-framed landscapes) and price, but in the way the staff handles customers. Dominic Galati himself, smooth and elegant and reserved, takes his job seriously and makes sure his employees do, too. The extensive menu can create anxiety for the indecisive, but the staff dispenses wisdom. While the items look pretty standard, ingredients are top quality and little bursts of innovation stave off drowsiness. The strong wine list, heavy with Italian vintages, will please everyone. We recommend the pasta, undervalued by most, as a first course; if you fill up on it, your entrée will become lunch for tomorrow. Osso buco is notable here; veal with Fontina and mushrooms is satisfyingly sigh-inducing. If you drive your Alfa Romeo, it'll definitely be safe---valet parking usually puts them by the front door.
