Dominique Ansel Kitchen Restaurant Review:

Dominique Ansel, the pastry chef responsible for inspiring people want to line up at 5 a.m. to get a cronut, his own invention, launched this eponymous bakery/eatery in the West Village. If you’re expecting to try your first cronut here you’ll be disappointed, as none are available. Instead, Ansel gives us wacky creations like the forgettable matcha beignets packed with green powder that explodes everywhere at the first bite. There’s also first-rate edamame avocado toast; garlic bread croissant; and a very good french toast-like croque monsieur. Sit outdoors in the warm-weather months or opt for the stadium-style seating indoors and watch the kitchen in action.
