Donato's Fox Chapel Restaurant Review: Executive chef Donato Coluccio’s open kitchen plays to a full house. A smart, comfortable design creates a prominent social stage. The menu harbors classic Italian favorites --- osso buco, veal cannelloni. There's nothing wildly experimental here but the execution is skilled, with fresh attitude and a reverence for quality ingredients. Crowd-pleasers range from jumbo shrimp cocktail to tuna tartare with orecchiette chips and Angus beef carpaccio. Seasonal pastas appeal as do fresh sardines, whole branzino and tuna with Gaeta olives, capers and 15-year balsamic. Or choose from a large selection of house-cut meats. The restaurant also offers a vegetarian menu. All the traditional Italian desserts are house-made --- tiramisu, panna cotta, cannoli, gelato and ricotta cheesecake. Portions are generous, the wine list extensive and the bar buzzes.
